   2001 Design Teams
The 2001 RTT Design Teams consisted of pre-service teachers, Graduate Program in Teaching faculty, Arts and Sciences faculty and partner district teachers who collaborate in a curriculum design process to integrate technology into authentic teaching units. Below are descriptions of last year's Design Team Curriculum Units.

Grade 2 - Lowell, McAuliffe School, Native Americans QT mov 2.3M

This team focused on students identifying the different aspects of Native American culture. The team developed a website of Native American resources where students were able to research a specific aspect of Native American life. Students presented a slide show on their research.
Grade 4 - Lowell, Washington School, Ancient Civilization QT mov 2.3M

This team chose Ancient civilization as their curriculum unit. Children produced a slide show about the life of Egyptian children as compared to the life of American children today.
Grade 5 - Methuen, Comprehensive Grammar School, Weather QT mov 3M

This team focused on using new technology strategies in designing an appropriate weather unit. Students prepared PowerPoint presentations describing various cloud formations.
Grade 6 - Methuen, Timony School, Ecology QT mov 2.8M

This team researched the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay region and prepared PowerPoint presentations about the problems in that area.
Grade 10 - Methuen, Methuen High School, Geometry QT mov 1.7M

This team used the software package "Geometer's Sketchpad" to visually teach concepts of geometry and had the students use the software to manipulate data and learn the concepts
Grade 12 - Lowell High School, English

This team divided the students into two College Writing I classes as collaboration between Lowell High School and the University's English department. One group used technology extensively and the other was taught traditionally in order to ascertain whether technology enhances the writing process.
