Our six design
team projects representing our three partner school districts are
underway after a large group forum at the beginning of October.
The next group meeting will be held on Monday, December 3 at 3:30
PM.
The schools,
grades and curriculum units to be infused with technology are as
follows:
- Byam School, Chelmsford, Grade 1, Science (Weather/Plants)
- Westlands School, Chelmsford, Grade 4, Social Studies (Industrialization/Immigration)
- Comprehensive Grammar School, Methuen, Grade 8, Science (Genetics)
- Comprehensive Grammar School, Methuen, Grade 7, Social Studies (Geography of Southeast Asia)
- Methuen High School, Grade 10, History (The Vietnam War)
- Butler Middle School, Lowell, Grade 8, Mathematics (Graphing Calculators)
Conferences in November will be attended by some of our design team
participants, Ready to Teach partners and students in the Graduate
School of Education. These conferences are MassCue in Sturbridge,
MA on November 14 and 15 and the Christa McAuliffe Conference in
Nashua, NH on November 27, 28, 29. If you are interested in attending
either one of these and have not signed up as yet, please let me
know. Grant funding will cover the cost of registration.
The Ready to Teach project is now participating in a consortium
of the seven Massachusetts PT 3 grantees. The other lead institutions
are: Berklee School of Music, Boston College, Boston University,
Regis College, Tufts University and Wheelock College. We have banded
together to try and expand and sustain the mission of the PT 3 project
throughout the state. More information about this initiative will
be available after our next group meeting this month.
