Press release for the Shuttle, re: SITE
Faculty and staff from the Center for Field Services and Studies
in the Graduate School of Education recently presented research
findings and
new technology tools at the International SITE (Society for Information
Technology and Teacher Education) Conference in Albuquerque, New
Mexico. Presentations by the UML attendees were based on work done
in the “Ready
to Teach” project, a multi-year grant from the Preparing Tomorrow’s
Teachers to Use Technology project of the United States Department
of Education. Dissemination of project outcomes to professional audiences
is a requirement of the funder. The $1 million technology project
is a partnership of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the public
school districts of Lowell, Methuen and Chelmsford, and the Mass
Networks
Educational Partnership, Inc.
UML presentations included: “Just In Time Faculty Technology Training”,
by Dr. Judith Boccia, CFSS Director and PI of the project; “ISTE
Standards for Preservice Students Made Easy!” by Dr. Patricia Fontaine,
GSE lecturer and project Design Team facilitator; “Synchronous
Learning Environments for Your Online Course”, by Michael Lucas,
CFSS Distance Learning Coordinator and project technical expert; “Digital
Paper: Document Distribution in the Digital Age”, by John Wren,
project webmaster and software support; “Sustaining Support for
Technology in Teacher Education - A statewide PT3 Collaboration,” by
Marjorie Dennis, project coordinator.
