Press release for the Shuttle, re: SITE

Faculty and staff from the Center for Field Services and Studies in the Graduate School of Education recently presented research findings and new technology tools at the International SITE (Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education) Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Presentations by the UML attendees were based on work done in the “Ready to Teach” project, a multi-year grant from the Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology project of the United States Department of Education. Dissemination of project outcomes to professional audiences is a requirement of the funder. The $1 million technology project is a partnership of the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the public school districts of Lowell, Methuen and Chelmsford, and the Mass Networks Educational Partnership, Inc.

UML presentations included: “Just In Time Faculty Technology Training”, by Dr. Judith Boccia, CFSS Director and PI of the project; “ISTE Standards for Preservice Students Made Easy!” by Dr. Patricia Fontaine, GSE lecturer and project Design Team facilitator; “Synchronous Learning Environments for Your Online Course”, by Michael Lucas, CFSS Distance Learning Coordinator and project technical expert; “Digital Paper: Document Distribution in the Digital Age”, by John Wren, project webmaster and software support; “Sustaining Support for Technology in Teacher Education - A statewide PT3 Collaboration,” by Marjorie Dennis, project coordinator.
