If you have ever considered becoming a science, technology-engineering, or math (STEM) teacher, then this program could be for you! UTeach prepares STEM majors (science, computer science, mathematics, and engineering) to become middle school or high school teachers while completing an undergraduate degree. If you join the program, you will have one degree with two possible career paths - one in your major or one in teaching - with very few additional credits and for some majors no additional credits.

We hope to attract a wide range of bright STEM undergraduate students who want to find out if teaching is for them and, if it is, enroll in the 24 credit STEM teaching minor. The UTeach program will give you the experience in classrooms and the mentoring needed to become a confident, effective, and innovative educator.

UTeach UMass Lowell was launched in Spring 2012 with funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. We are part of the national UTeach network which began at the University of Texas Austin 1997. UMass Lowell is the only university in New England to offer the highly successful UTeach program.

If you are a UML STEM undergraduate student, a prospective student, parent, or just generally interested in STEM education, we invite you to look through these pages to see what UTeach is about.
